How GCT works in Jamaica
GCT is Jamaica’s value-added tax, charged at a standard rate of 15% on most goods and services. Businesses registered for GCT add it to their prices and remit it to Tax Administration Jamaica. Some sectors carry different rates — for example, tourism services use a lower rate — so the calculator lets you change the percentage.
To add GCT, multiply the price by 1.15. To find the GCT inside a tax-inclusive total, divide the total by 1.15 to get the base price; the difference is the GCT. The calculator does both automatically.
